Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Athletics is searching for an Aquatics Coordinator and Assistant Coach for Swimming. Reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics for Recreational Programs, the Aquatics Coordinator and Assistant Coach for Swimming, is an essential team member that holds responsibilities in the Athletics Recreation Programs and the Varsity Swim Team. This is a full-time, 12-month position, with varying hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends, as required.

Core responsibilities include:

Core responsibilities for Aquatics Coordinator will include:

  • Coordinate and schedule pool for all aquatic programming including; varsity swim team practices, physical education classes, open recreation swim, intramural sports, group fitness classes, campus events, rental groups, summer camps and learn to swim programs.  including hiring/training/supervision of lifeguarding staff

  • Hire, train, schedule and supervise lifeguard and equipment desk staff; including policy development and implementation, risk management, equipment inventory/purchasing, and approve weekly payroll hours for student employees.

  • Maintain website and communicate operating hours to campus community.

  • Facility oversight of multiple athletic spaces and resources that includes: pool, fitness desks, locker rooms, gymnasiums

  • Oversee all pool and hot tub mechanical and chemical operations. Coordinate necessary repairs with University Facilities Management Services and/or outside contractors.

  • Teaching in the physical education program

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
