JOB SUMMARY: To serve as an assistant to and be directly responsible to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer in performing direct supervision of student-athletes and athletic on the SVSU campus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

•   Provide the highest level of healthcare to all SVSU student-athletes.
• Maintain an effective working relationship with all team physicians, ensuring student-athlete compliance with team physician’s treatment and rehabilitation guidelines.
• Maintain required Continuing Education Unit (CEU) guidelines to endure Board of Certification (BOC) and Michigan state licensure requirements.
• Maintain appropriate communication with student-athletes and parents/guardians.
• Maintain positive communications and relationships with SVSU athletic department personnel.
• Assist the Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Sports Medicine with special events.
• Competency in appropriate injury tracking software.
• Travel with sport specific assigned programs.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Head Athletic Trainer.

  SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Supervision is received from the Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Sports Medicine

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree from a CAATE accredited program.
• Board Certified Athletic Trainer.
• Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as an athletic trainer in the state of Michigan.
• CPR/First Aid Certified or be able to obtain the certification after date of hire.
• Computer competency and skills
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience and ability to positively interact with diverse student populations and groups.
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

  PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS

•   Master's degree in a health-related field.
• One year of experience in the collegiate athletic training field.
  

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed both in an office environment, which is not exposed to adverse conditions, and outside where there is no protection from the weather. Nights and weekends, as well as travel, will be required.
