candidates for an Assistant Athletic Trainer in the Sports Medicine Department. The successful athletic

candidates for an Assistant Athletic Trainer in the Sports Medicine Department. The successful athletic
trainer is expected to perform the sports medicine duties required for multiple sports teams of the
University of Pikeville.

Requirements:
• Master’s degree or higher in Athletic Training.
• Certified by the National Athletic Training Association - Board of Certification.
• Must be familiar with operating modalities and sports-related equipment, e.g., estim/ultrasound
machine, ice machine, whirlpool, water boys.
• Must be self-sufficient.
• Must be able to manage and direct the sports medicine staff.
• Must have excellent communication skills.
• Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
• Must be able to perform simple calculations.
• Must be familiar with conducting research on the Web, as well as creating online travel
arrangements.
Relationships:
Position requires daily contact with athletic trainers, director of athletics, student workers, athletes,
parents, school administrators, other coaches, physical therapists, doctors, insurance companies, and
doctor office staff in order to share information about the athletic program of the University of Pikeville.
These relationships are maintained through e-mail, telephone, and person-to-person contact.
