Description
Assist the Director of Sports Medicine with medical care of all student athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics. Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive athletic training program and with the daily operation of the Athletic Training Room.
Requirements
Assist in the daily operation of the athletic training room, including medical records, public relations, physician clinic administration, pre-participation examinations, medical documentation and overall program advancement. Maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the Sports Medicine Team, Administrators, Coaches, Athletic Training Staff, Athletic Training Students, and other campus affiliates. Gather medical history, most recent physical examinations, insurance information, assumption of risk, consent forms, and other pertinent documents.
Responsible for the injury care and rehabilitation of assigned athletic teams. Evaluation and referral to appropriate health care providers, as necessary. Communication with injured student-athletes and the appropriate coaches as to the nature and extent of the injury or illness, including prescribed treatment, rehabilitation and other pertinent information. Collaborate with the Strength and Conditioning specialist on appropriate activities and strength training adaptations of injured students athletes.
Assist in the coverage of summer camps as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.
Assist in the daily progression of the Student Athletic Training program. This includes adherence to and enforcement of the Student Athletic Training modules and its policies, as well as the recruitment, supervision, and evaluation of the student athletic training students.
Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the College and it's employees, and the rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (including, but not limited to, NCAA Bylaw Article 11 and its requirement to report all athletically-related income and benefits from sources outside Saint Mary's College), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, and of the West Coast Conference as not constituted or as may be amended in the future. Advise the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics if you have reasonable cause to believe a violation has occurred or will occur, whether by employees or students.
Manage and maintain all secondary insurance claims. Communicate with secondary insurance carrier and broker on all aspects of Saint Mary's College athletic injury claims. Submit quarterly reviewed reports to Director of Sports Medicine for further review prior to presenting to Saint Mary's College controller.
Assist the administration and Director of Sports Medicine with the compliance of OSHA standards and other pertinent topic areas related to public health.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: REQUIRED: BA/BS PREFERRED: MA/MS
Skills/Abilities: Computer, Written and Verbal Communication Skills, laws governing athletic training profession and HIPPA Compliance.
Licenses & Certifications: REQUIRED: ATC, CPR/AED
Other Requirements: Nights, weekends, and travel required.
