Position Description:

The Assistant Athletic Trainer for the University of Louisville Athletic Department will collaborate with the Associate Athletic Trainer to provide quality healthcare to the student-athletes. They will provide multifaceted healthcare for assigned sport program(s) by performing a full range of clinical athletic training functions assisting in the daily operations of the athletic training room, assessing athletic injuries; implementing preventive and rehabilitation programs to treat injuries, advising student-athletes on how to prevent injuries and maintain their physical condition. This position reports to the Associate Athletic Trainer.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide healthcare services to the student-athletes for assigned team, including but not limited to: injury prevention and evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation, practice/event coverage, physician referral, medical appointments.

• Assist with the maintenance and organization of the student-athlete’s medical files.

• Establish and comply with a line of communication to team physicians, coaches, student-athletes, EMT’s and parents (when applicable).

• Assist with the maintenance of athletic training equipment, monitor inventory, and assist with the preparation of budget request.

• Assist in the supervision and recruitment of undergraduate student athletic trainers.

• Assist with the coordination of federal work study students in the athletic training room.

• Remain current with all national and state certifications and licensure and follow the NATA code of ethics, including annual CEU opportunities.

• Other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Trainer, Director of Sports Medicine, or Senior Director of Sports Medicine.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior Division I intercollegiate athletics experience with assigned sport program/team.

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills as well as organizational and administrative skills

• Master's degree in athletic training, exercise science or closely related field and two years of post-baccalaureate athletic training experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• NATA and NATABOC Athletic Trainer certification.

• Eligible for Kentucky state licensure.

• First Aid and CPR/AED Certifications.
