This is a full-time, 10-month position.

This position will work closely with and aid the Head Athletic Trainer in the management of all aspects pertaining to athletic training for all intercollegiate sports and club teams, to include, but not limited to; organization of coverage for all home events/ practices and conditioning activities; assist in coordination of coverage for away contests via advance communication with host venue training staff; coordinate and implement pre-participation exams including SWAY testing; Sports ware management database that contains confidential health, medical and insurance records in accordance with the Buckley Amendment and HIPPA/ FERPA requirements; execution of injury assessment, prevention and rehabilitation services to all intercollegiate participants - including coordination of health/medical referrals with appropriate support services; management of training room environment in coordination with the Head Athletic Trainer - engendering trust, professionalism, sport equity, sportsmanship and respect for diversity at all times; maintenance of departmental emergency action plans and applicable training, supplies and equipment; in conjunction with the Head Athletic Trainer, communicate appropriate educational information as it relates to student-athlete health and wellness, implementation and supervision of athletic activities and events in collaboration with athletic department staff; attendance at appropriate departmental and institutional committee meetings and performance of administrative and related athletic functions as assigned.

The qualified candidate must have knowledge of appropriate regulations as they pertain to athletics and higher education (e.g., NCAA, NAC, etc.). Will be considered a first responder and required to receive OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) training.

Bachelor’s Degree (master’s preferred) in athletic training or closely related field. Licensed Athletic Trainer within the State of Maine (or eligible). National Athletic Trainer’s Association Certification. First Aid/ CPR/ AED certified (instructor level preferred). Prior experience in general principles of preventative physical care for athletes, first aid treatment, referrals, and post-injury rehabilitation. Valid driver’s license, successful driver’s license background check and successful completion of van familiarization course required.
