Job Summary:

The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for supporting the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine in leading a superior NCAA Division II sports medicine program at Regis University. The athletic programs are the front porch of the institution, and it is paramount that the training and sports medicine programs operate in a manner representative of Regis University. Excellence shall be attained through top-quality health care for student-athletes, communications with athletic staff, and superior customer service for all entities with whom the athletic training programs interact. An atmosphere of care for student-athletes' health and well-being must be the driving principle of the Regis University sports medicine program.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Medical Care:

• Emergency Medical Care: Provide emergency medical evaluation, treatment, and injury triage to student-athletes during practice and/or competition. Design and fabricate protective equipment and apply appropriate taping/wrapping to support extremities and prevent further injury aggravation.
• Follow-Up Medical Care: Provide daily follow-up care and evaluation of the injured/ill athletes and communicate with appropriate coaching and athletic staff regarding the status of injury/illness and participation capabilities. Work with the Regis Cares physical therapy program to provide post-op or complicated injury rehabilitation care.
• Medical Documentation and Billing: Document injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation of injured student-athletes. Maintain student-athlete pre-season paperwork, injury/documentation of therapy, medical billing requirements, and communication and Internet access hardware and software.

Administrative:

• Develop effective working relationships with student-athletes and liaise with athletes, coaching staff, parents, physicians, and other health professionals. He/she must also possess exceptional organizational skills to support the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine to ensure a well-run sports medicine program and, therefore, a flawless athletic training experience for the student-athletes.
• Monitor and Balance the Program Budget: Provide support to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine in overseeing the budget responsibilities of inventory, supply bid allocation, purchasing and maintaining supplies, materials, insurance contracts, training room facilities, and annual maintenance schedules, as well as the acquisition of capital outlay items.
• Pre-Participation Exam (PPE) and Required Documentation Coordinator: Required to process, collect, and document all PPE and forms necessary by the NCAA, RMAC, and Regis Athletic Department. Will be a primary contact for parents and student-athletes regarding questions or concerns about required documentation. It is required to make sure all student-athletes are cleared to participate as a Regis student-athlete before participation

Professional Development:

• The Assistant Athletic Trainer must engage in professional development and is responsible for keeping up with current trends and developments and implementing into duties to perform more effectively. Additionally, the Assistant Athletic Trainer must attend pertinent professional opportunities and classes, including but not limited to NATA, RMAC, and NCAA meetings.

Fundraising & Promotion:

• Promote the Brand of the Athletic Department and Regis University: Shall continually strive to enhance the image of the Regis University Athletics Department and its programs through in-game conduct, inter-personal contacts with parents, visitors, university faculty/staff, and community citizens. Additionally, the Assistant Athletic Trainer shall participate in Athletic Department and University-sponsored events and initiatives.
• Fundraise for the Athletic Department: Required to participate fully in department fundraising activities, fundraising events, university campaigns, and special project campaigns.

Create an Atmosphere of Compliance:

• Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the NCAA, the RMAC, and the Regis Athletic Department.
• Supervise and ensure that any assistants, other employees, and/or volunteers for whom you are administratively responsible comply with the policies, rules, and regulations mentioned above.
• Immediately advise the if there reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees or students, have occurred or will occur.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field
• Master's degree from an accredited university in Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, or a related field preferred
• NATABOC certified
• CPR/AED certified
• Colorado AT licensure eligible

Professional Experience:

• 1-3 years of athletic training experience at the NCAA level preferred
• Ability to work with insurance companies to ensure prompt and accurate payment
• Ability to follow University procurement policy
• Broad knowledge of common prescription medications

Other:

• The ability to travel easily between athletic facilities
• The ability to lift up to 40lbs

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working conditions are indoor and outdoor in all types of weather. Work will require weekend and/or evening work. Some local, regional, and/or national travel is required.Please note that hours worked may vary weekly to accommodate practice, game, and travel schedules. Flexibility in availability is essential to meet the demands of this role.

Pay Rate:

$55,000/annually
