We provide our student-athletes the opportunity for leadership and service through a diverse program of instruction and competition. Our programs are run in accordance with the rules and regulations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the SLAC and UMAC.

This position is a full time, exempt, 10-month renewable contract from August-May. The pay for this position is $50,000 and is paid through PEAK Sport and Spine. All Athletic Trainers are contracted through PEAK Sport and Spine and are not direct employees of Westminster College.

Requirements

Essential Functions:

• Work collectively with the Director of Sports Medicine with overall administration of the athletic training program.
• Work clinical hours with Peak Sport and Spine as needed.
• Provide sports medicine coverage during home events/contests.
• Evaluate, treat and rehab injuries sustained by student-athletes.
• Assist in organizing physical examinations.
• Maintain medical records on all athletes.
• Track student-athlete injuries and treatments using injury-tracking software.
• Design and implement both preventive and rehabilitative programs for student athletes.
• Communicate effectively with coaches, athletes and physicians.
• Act as liaison between student-athletes and their parents to insurance companies and doctor's offices; refer and schedule doctor's appointments when needed.
• Coordinate medical insurance claims.
• Willingness to become an Approved Clinical Preceptor providing Athletic Training students with supervision and instruction during their clinical rotation.
• Abide by NATA code of ethics.
• Responsibly manage a budget.
• Other duties as assigned.

Event Coverage Requirements:

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will be required to cover all home competitions for their assigned teams. Travel is not required for regular season play, but is required for all post-season competitions. Practice coverage is not required.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday Westminster Sports Medicine Clinic treatment hours. Occasional weekend home-event coverage required.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required. Master's Degree preferred.

Licensure: Missouri Athletic Training Licensure. BOC Certification. CPR/AED/First Aid Certification and/or EMT Certification.

Skills:

• Knowledge and/or experience in the implementation of safe and effective conditioning methodologies.
• Demonstrated background and/or knowledge of anatomy, exercise physiology, kinesiology, and nutrition.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
• Good judgment in handling sensitive student issues.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and experience promoting inclusive excellence.
• Ability to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations and to effectively identify and resolve problems and to maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive information.
