Title: Assistant Athletic Trainer (Lead Football AT)

Description: The Assistant Athletic Trainer (Lead Football AT) is responsible for supporting the comprehensive Sports Medicine program at Hartwick College under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer, in collaboration with athletic training staff and the occupational therapist. This is a full-time, 10-month position.

We are seeking an individual who will take primary responsibility for the football program, including daily treatments, rehabilitation, and full coverage of all practices, home, and away competitions. This position will also serve as the designated First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor, certified through the American Red Cross, leading training for athletics staff and student workers. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical skills, a proactive approach to emergency care, and a passion for working in a collaborative collegiate environment.

Responsibilities: - Provide daily injury prevention, on-site evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athletes, with a primary focus on the football program. - Serve as the lead athletic trainer for football, managing all aspects of sports medicine coverage during home and away games, practices, and off-season activities. - Provide emergency medical evaluation, injury triage, and acute care services in practice and competition settings. - Serve as the American Red Cross certified First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor, overseeing certification and recertification for coaching staff, athletics personnel, and student employees. - Collaborate with the team physician(s), Director of Perrella Wellness Center, and football coaching staff to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student-athlete health. - Maintain accurate and confidential clinical documentation, including documentation of injury reports and rehabilitation logs in the EMR system. - Coordinate pre-season physicals and baseline testing, ensuring student-athletes are cleared for participation. - Communicate effectively with coaches, administrators, and healthcare providers regarding injury status, treatment plans, and return-to-play progression. - Mentor and supervise student athletic training assistants and interns.
