Under the supervision of the Head Baseball Coach, the primary purpose of the Assistant Baseball Coach is to assist the Head Coach with organizing the Baseball program at Bluefield University. The position is a full-time position and assists with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques.
The primary duties of the Assistant Baseball Coach consist of instructing athletes in the fundamentals and the performance of the sport of baseball as well as teaching, tutoring, mentoring and coaching student athletes. This position assists in supervising volunteers and student workers who are assigned to the baseball program, and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the University’s policies and applicable laws. Supervisory duties, responsibilities, and functions include interviewing, hiring, training and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye. The operation of vehicles and the transportation of athletes are duties that are required at various times. Tasks such as working at a computer which involves extensive wrist and hand movements are also required.
