SUMMARY/SCOPE:

Supports the Head Baseball Coach with oversight of all aspects of running an NCAA Division III Baseball program at Hardin-Simmons University.

Responsible for helping to plan and organize all baseball practice sessions.

Responsible for aspects of the baseball program’s daily operations.

Responsible for aspects of the on-field maintenance

In addition, responsible for assisting with coaching decisions during competition.

HSU JOB FAMILY CLASSIFICATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in practice planning and running practice.

Assist in game time decisions and game stats.

Break down video for scouting opponents.

Break down video for team development.

Help with travel itineraries/logistics.

Help with team gear purchase/allocations.

Assist with organizing and promoting summer camps.

Assists in direction conditioning of players to achieve maximum athletic performance.

Assists in assessment of player's skills and assigns team positions

Assists with recruiting qualified student athletes for acceptance into Hardin-Simmons University within guidelines set by the University. This includes identifying, evaluating, developing relationships, and initiating application submission.

Assists with development and implementation of a program which includes monitoring academic progress in addition to athletic performance.

Demonstrates a working knowledge of the American Southwest Conference, and University rules and regulations.

Conducts program in compliance with ASC and NCAA rules and regulations.

Organizes camps and clinics to promote said sport, public interest, and community involvement with the University.

Assists with team travel including hotel reservations, ground transportation, and meal arrangements.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is required.

Prefer one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications required (or must be obtained).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This is a Part-Time/No Benefits, Non-Exempt/Hourly Staff Position which is seasonal.

This position will be scheduled for an “average” of 15 – 19 hours per week. The weekly schedule will vary with less hours scheduled during the off season vs. baseball season.
Non-Exempt/Hourly employees who work beyond 40 hours during a single work week will be compensated at time and a half, per FLSA guidelines.

Must be able to drive to complete work assignments on, as needed.

Travel and irregular hours are required during peak season.

Must have and maintain a valid Class C Driver’s License and maintain a clear driving record to be insurable under the university liability policy.
