Position Summary: This position is responsible for assisting the football program and the assisting the management of the team’s strength and conditioning program.Ideal candidate will have demonstrated success recruiting at the NCAA D3 level. Also responsible for supporting the football program by assisting with the planning and conducting training and practices. Will also be tasked with mentoring players to ensure academic success as well as reviewing game film and data entry for game planning.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Assist in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes that allow the program to be in a position of competitive leadership in the Northern Athletics Conference. This will include talent evaluation, coordinating mailings, telephone calls, and email exchanges, monitoring recruitment process, on campus and off campus in-person contacts. Recruit student-athletes in specified areas and/or schools as assigned by the Head Coach. Work with the Recruiting coordinator on identifying prospects and maintaining the recruiting database.                                                                                                                                               

2. Responsible to coach a position and assist the coaching staff with scouting reports, film editing, game and practice plans. Assist in the planning, development, and direction of all team training and conditioning activities in the traditional and nontraditional segment at a level that will place program in a position of competitive leadership in the Northern Athletics Conference.          

1. Coordinate the exchange of video for the football program. Responsible for the supervision of student film crew for practices and games. Responsible for editing and breakdown of all games into computer video editing system.

4. Assist with the retention of student athletes through social and academic counseling; interaction with University retention team and coaching staff. Retention of student-athletes, along with support of Student Athlete Services, by effectively coordinating and communicating attendance to all SOAR and department sponsored events.

1. Serve as game day manager for Benedictine University Athletics and the Sports Complex. Assist with all event responsibilities including set up and take down and overseeing events.  Responsible for initiating contact with all visiting athletic teams to identify gameday needs. Coordinate the set up and take down for home athletics events.

6.  Provide instruction in technique and safety procedures in adherence with NCAA regulations and Sports Performance expectations in the declared playing and practice seasons.

Other Functions:

1. Adherence to all Benedictine University and Division of Student Engagement policies and procedures. Work independently and creatively within established guidelines, while at the same time functioning as a member of a team. 

2. Attend departmental and University-related meetings and events.

3. Strong leadership, administrative, planning, and presentation skills, including oral and written communications.

1. Work in coordination with University offices and departments to coordinate and facilitate program needs, and serve on University committees as needed. 

5. Maintain a high level of organization and ability to manage multiple tasks. 

6.  Ability to attain goals through knowledge of regulation and accreditation requirements, as well as incorporate best practices into initiatives.

7. Ability to create a culture of collaboration with all campus constituents.

8. Experience working in the areas of inclusion, diversity, equity and/or access.

9. Employs sound project management practices, methodologies, and principles to accomplish work.

10. Proven ability to organize information; assess, utilize, and navigate online platforms; and conduct detailed data analysis and develop reports based on data.

11. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations and matters with diplomacy and superior judgment.

12. Ability to complete high-level analysis of data. 

13. Demonstrated analytical, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills. 

Required Qualifications:

 

Education:   Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree Preferred

Experience: Previous collegiate coaching preferred

Specific Skills:   Knowledge of NCAA Division III philosophy, recruitment, rules and regulations.      

Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications:  Yes.  Organizational skills, writing and typing skills, interpersonal skills, data entry and budget management skills and demonstrated supervisory skills.     Valid Driver’s License required.  CPR/AED/First Aid required within the first 90 days of employment.

Physical Requirements:  May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. Must reach, bend, stoop, lift. Must sit, walk or stand for long periods of time. Ability to handle varying levels of stress while maintaining professional demeanor. Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun/heat or cold weather.

Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand. Understand the speech of another person.

Working Conditions:   Indoor and outdoor environment. Nights and weekends are required.

Training:  As a University employee you are required to complete all University-specific and/or OSHA related training to fulfill your job duties.  Specific training will be conducted online or in person.  Employees must complete all trainings required by Benedictine University.
