Position Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting the football program and assisting in the management of the team’s recruitment.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for identifying and successfully recruiting viable prospects from assigned recruiting territories. Direct the recruitment of prospective student-athletes that allow the program to be in a position of competitive leadership in the Northern Athletics Conference. This will include talent evaluation, coordinating mailings, telephone calls, and email exchanges, monitoring recruitment process, on campus and off campus in-person contacts. Recruit student-athletes in specified areas and/or schools as assigned by the Head Coach.
2. Responsible to coach a position and assist the Offensive Coordinator with scouting reports, film editing, game and practice plans. Assist in the planning, development, and direction of all team training and conditioning activities in the traditional and nontraditional segment at a level that will place program in a position of competitive leadership in the Northern Athletics Conference.
3. Responsible for tracking the academic progress of players in assigned position groups. Will assist with the retention of student-athletes through social and academic counseling; interaction with the University retention team and coaching staff. Retention of student-athletes.
4. Will work directly with the admissions office and campus scheduling to schedule and organize recruiting visits.
5. Assist in game preparation and implementation of game day strategies.
6. Other duties as assigned.
Other Functions:
1. Develop relationships within Benedictine University and the University community.
2. Attend departmental and University related meetings and events.
3. Maintain a positive student athlete assessment for program from student athletes.
4. Work in coordination with University offices and departments to coordinate and facilitate University events.
5. Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers and fans.
6. Serve on University, conference and national committees as needed.
7. Positively promote Benedictine University and the Department of Athletics on campus and in the community.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree Preferred
Experience: Previous collegiate coaching preferred along with experience with strength training and conditioning programs.
Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: Yes. Organizational skills, writing and typing skills, interpersonal skills, data entry and budget management skills and demonstrated supervisory skills. Certification in Strength Training (NSCA or CSCS). Valid Driver’s License required. CPR certification is required.
Physical Requirements: May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. Must reach, bend, stoop, lift. Must sit, walk or stand for long periods of time. Ability to handle varying levels of stress while maintaining professional demeanor. Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun/heat or cold weather.
Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand. Understand the speech of another person.

Training: As a University employee you are required to complete all University-specific and/or OSHA related training to fulfill your job duties. Specific training will be conducted online or in person. Employees must complete all trainings required by Benedictine University.
