Assistant Coach, Men’s Wrestling (Part-time)
Muhlenberg College, a Division III institution and a member of the Centennial Conference is seeking applications for a part-time Assistant Coach, Men’s Wrestling. Responsibilities include assisting the head coach in all phases of the men’s wrestling program within the college, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations; including evaluating, identifying, and recruiting prospective student-athletes; and planning/implementing coaching strategies into daily practices and competition.
This part-time position is budgeted for 530 hours per year and includes College-provided housing and a meal-stipend of $800 per semester of “Berg Bucks” dining credit, for use at on-campus dining facilities while the College is in session.

Under the general direction of the head coach, provide leadership and support to all facets of the program in advancing the mission of the College and Athletics department.

Coaching

Assist with and attend practices, training sessions, team meetings, and contests (home and away). (Specific time commitment required will be determined by the Head Coach)
Assist in planning and evaluating program results.
Assist in achieving team success.
Assist and support in the continued success of the program.
Student-Athlete & Community Relations
Motivate, counsel, and support student-athletes in realizing their potential for personal growth and development as athletes, students, and members of the general college community.
Assist in promoting strong parent, alumni, and community relations.
Attend meetings and training as required by the head coach, the Athletics Department, and College.
Assist in recruitment strategies, identifying, and evaluating prospective students.
Assist in continuing team success.
May perform other duties as assigned.
While no one person may possess all the qualifications listed below, the ideal candidate will have many of the following professional experiences and characteristics:
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree.
Related professional experience, or a combination of professional and athletic experience leading to a similar qualification.
Men’s Wrestling experience and/or training preferred.
Ability to motivate, counsel, and support student-athletes.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive academic and professional environment where all members of our campus community are respected, valued, can succeed, and thrive.
Communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III philosophy of athletics and adherence to NCAA regulations regarding operation of athletic programs.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and engage with a varied audience, including but not limited to students, parents, College employees, alumni, and community relations.
Ability to travel and adapt to varying schedules, including evening and weekend hours, in accordance with the needs of the team.
Successful completion of satisfactory background checks including but not limited to education verification, criminal background, child abuse clearance, and driving record check.
