The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach & Head JV Coach at Ohio Northern University is responsible for the successful oversight of the JV program as well as assisting in all aspects of establishing and maintaining a successful

men’s basketball program. This position must provide specialized expertise in their area of concentration while supporting the successful development of student-athletes both in the classroom and on the court.
Ohio Northern University is searching for an Assistant Coach of Men’s Basketball who will also serve as the Head Coach of Men’s JV Basketball.
Represent Ohio Northern University in a positive and professional manner.
Conduct all duties within the rules and regulations of the

Recruit and develop qualified athletes as directed by the head varsity basketball coach.
Scheduling of JV contests in coordination with the men’s and women’s varsity schedule.
Plan and oversee JV practices in coordination with other varsity sports that require gym space.
Promote a culture of academic achievement among athletes and provide academic oversight.
Cooperate with Health Services and Athletic Trainers to ensure injured athletes receive proper treatment. Understand that all medical decisions related to a student athlete’s health and well-being is the responsibility of the team physician and Certified Athletic Trainers.
Participate in relevant training and professional development activities to enhance work-related skills and knowledge.
Assist with gameday administration for men’s soccer home games.
Assist the varsity head coach in the successful operation of various aspects of the varsity men’s basketball program which includes but is not limited to: recruiting, player development, scouting, the development of the program’s social media presence, and other duties as assigned.
The ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty, staff, and other constituencies.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree.
Basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite required.
Must be certified to drive College vans per College policies.
