Job Description:
Under the direction of the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach is responsible for all aspects of the development and administration of a successful College Sailing program. The program will be conducted in accordance with all University, ICSA, relevant National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules, regulations, and policies. The Assistant Coach has a primary duty of teaching and instructing student-athletes in sailing.

Coaching and player development for athletic success:
Help in planning, running and coaching all team practices as well as home regatta management.
Teach and develop sailing skills in a successful, safe and prudent manner. May include video editing and content management.
Provide input to head coach regarding sailor development and progress.
Provide feedback to players during and after practice and regattas.
Support the strength training and conditioning program.
Motivate and effectively communicate with student-athletes and support their academic success.
Assist with the maintenance of the fleet of sailboats, powerboats, and facilities.
Organization of team travel logistics.
Recruit prospective student-athletes.
Aid fundraising efforts; build alumni and parent relations.
Additional Functions
Waterfront responsibilities
Initiate new ideas for summer revenue generation utilizing the Bready Sailing Center and waterfront.
Assist with waterfront educational programs (i.e., teach basic sailing classes)
Hire and supervise Waterfront Monitors from May-August.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or supervisor's designee.
Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a related discipline from an accredited four-year collegiate institution.
Experience in coaching and knowledge of the fundamentals, tactics, and strategies of coaching intercollegiate sports with ability to recruit talented players for the program.
US Sailing Level 2
RI Boating license if applicable
Ability to handle emergency situations involving students.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Driver's license
Ability to travel and transport team to and from regattas
Preferred Qualifications
Intercollegiate sailing experience.
Ability to work on nights, weekends and some holidays.
At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
