Job Title: Assistant Coach (Seasonal) - Cross Country
Department: Athletics
Reports to: Head Coach - Cross Country
Status: Seasonal, Non-Benefit Eligible
Rate: $4,000 prorated based on start date of the 4 month assignment
Location: Lisle Campus
Position Summary: The primary focus of the Assistant Coach, (Seasonal) will be long-distance training and administrative support (recruiting) (fundraising). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, training athletes on the cross-country team, and assisting the head coach in all aspects of pre-season & post-season training, practice, competition, and recruitment. Must be capable of having a flexible practice schedule, monitoring student-athlete academic success, and recruiting strategy. Also, will assist the Head Coach in organizing team events, travel logistics, recruiting, and team fundraising. Adherence to NCAA Division III rules and regulations, supporting the philosophy, goals, and mission of the college and its intercollegiate athletics program, as well as adherence to departmental, university, NACC, and NCAA policies and procedures is required.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
Teach proper fundamentals and techniques of long distance running through safe training and long-term development of athletes.
3. Assist with recruiting qualified prospective student-athletes who meet the academic and athletic standards of our program.
Assist in organizing logistics for Benedictine University team travel, recruitment and fundraising goals.
Assist in meet competition preparation and implementation of meet strategies.
Other Functions:
Develop relationships within and positively promote Benedictine University and its surrounding community.
Attend Department and university-related meetings and events as directed.
Represent the Department of Athletics with sportsmanship, integrity, and a high degree of professionalism.
Create a positive experience and program assessment for the student-athletes.
Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers, and fans.
Required Qualifications:
Education: High School Graduate/GED Required, Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Experience: Previous Coaching Experience Required
Specific Skills: Knowledge of NCAA Division III philosophy, recruitment, rules and regulations
Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: Yes. Knowledge of NCAA jumping events (long jump and triple jump). Valid Driver’s License required. CPR certification is preferred. USATF Level One Certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to handle varying levels of stress while maintaining professional demeanor. Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun/heat or cold weather.
Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand. Understand the speech of another person.
See details of objects that are less than a few feet away or are more than a few feet away. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. General Customer service and office environment.

Working Conditions: Indoor and outdoor environment. Nights and weekends required.
Training: As a University employee you are required to complete all University-specific and/or OSHA related training to fulfill your job duties. Specific training will be conducted online or in person. Employees must complete all trainings required by Benedictine University.
