Position Overview

| Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The NCCU Department of Athletics’ primary purpose is to provide leadership for an NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics program. The NCCU Department of Athletics places the highest priority on a quality academic and athletic experience as part of the overall education of student-athletes. The Department of Athletics seeks to strengthen the integration of the athletics program objectives with academic development objectives. | | Primary Purpose of Position |
The assistant coach perkwill assist in coaching duties for the NCCU intercollegiate volleyball program, established under NCAA operating bylaws. Assists the head coach with all aspects of recruitment and training for athletic competition. Teach assigned fundamentals and skills during practice and games.
• Assist is recruiting of deserving student-athletes.
• Assist in planning, implementing, and monitoring off-court activities.
• Assist in the tracking of the academic progress of players.
• Assist in managing volleyball camps.
• Assist in keeping up to date statistics and providing them to the area and state media.
• Assist in maintaining equipment inventory.
• Perform all other duties as assigned. | | Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
Organizing and coordinating skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and playing rules. Knowledge of NCAA student-athlete academic eligibility requirements. Knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. | | Minimum Education/Experience |
Bachelor’s degree, NCAA playing experience, Division I recruiting experience.

Master’s degree and demonstrated knowledge and implementation of a video editing application | | Licenses or Certification required by Statute or Regulation |
