Towson University, a Division I member of the Coastal Athletic Association, is seeking an Assistant Coach position for Women’s Basketball. Under the direction of the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach for Women’s Basketball teaches and provides instruction in the sport of women's basketball and assists in the planning, promotion, and administration of a quality Division I women's basketball program. This position is responsible for player development, on court coaching, scouting, and recruiting.

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities for the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Independent planning and implementation of a season long plan for a set group of student-athletes
• Participating in all aspects of practice instruction and game coaching
• Creating scouting reports, as assigned by the Head Coach, and providing institution to team-related strategy derived from scouting reports
• Recruiting and evaluating prospective student-athletes through the use of technology; conducting contacts and evaluations; and organizing official visits, including assigning hosts, creating travel itineraries, and managing all budgetary elements of visits while adhering to all NCAA regulations
• Tracking all admissions through the application process for prospective student-athletes

• Tracking all admissions through the application process for prospective student-athletes
• Providing instruction to student-athlete hosts on department/NCAA policies and procedures for visits
• Assisting with academic support, fundraising activities, and community service, including communication and outreach to alumni
• Knowledge of and adhering to NCAA rules
• Completing recruiting logs and other end-of-year summaries and correspondence within ARMS and in coordination with the compliance office
• Performing other duties as assigned by the Head Coach

The work hours for this position include nights and weekends, as required by the basketball schedule. Travel is required.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree and successful basketball coaching or Department of Basketball Operations experience at the college, high school, professional, club/clinic level or graduate assistant level
• Ability to train and recruit at the Division I collegiate level
• Ability to accept and carry out assigned program and responsibilities
• Ability to communicate effectively and work well with other coaches, students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community
• Ability topass the NCAA recruiting test and have a thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
• Ability to work collaboratively within the structure and framework of an athletics department and university
• A demonstrated commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically, as well as the understanding that this is essential to building a positive team culture
• Acommitment to personal and professional development of student-athletes

Salary and Benefits

$60,000 annually and a contract that offers holidays and sick days. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage.
