The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coordinator supports the physical development and overall athletic performance of student-athletes by assisting in the design, implementation, and supervision of training programs. This position works under the direction of the Head Strength and Conditioning Coordinator and collaborates with sport coaches, athletic trainers, and other performance staff to deliver evidence-based, sport-specific programming aimed at optimizing athlete performance, preventing injury, and fostering a culture of discipline, accountability, and competitive excellence.
Develop and implement strength and conditioning programs for assigned sports teams, in coordination with the Head Strength and Conditioning Coordinator. This includes leading both team and small-group training sessions that emphasize strength development, speed, agility, power, and energy system conditioning.
Supervise and instruct student-athletes to ensure safe and effective movement patterns during all sessions.
Track athlete progress and making program adjustments based on performance data and feedback.
Coordination with the sports medicine staff is essential for designing individualized return-to-play protocols and implementing injury prevention strategies.
Maintain an organized and professional training facility, attending staff meetings, assisting with athletic events, and mentoring interns or student workers are all part of this position’s responsibilities.

Flexible schedule, including availability early morning and evenings.
Other relevant duties as assigned.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
On-site work is required.
Incumbents must remain relevant in the area of employment and flexible to changes in work related to institutional needs.
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, sports performance, or a related field is required. Minimum of one year of experience working in a collegiate, high school, or professional strength and conditioning environment, whether through internships or paid positions.
A master’s degree in a related field and additional experience coaching multiple sports or working with both male and female athletes at the collegiate or professional level preferred.
Licenses and Certification
Must hold a CSCS certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or SCCC certification by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. (CSCCa)
Must be First Aid / CPR /AED Certified
Valid Georgia Driver’s License (or obtained within 30 days of hire date) and satisfactory MVR.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint along with performance tracking software such as TeamBuildr, BridgeAthletic.
Thorough understanding of exercise physiology, biomechanics, and periodized program design.
Demonstrate proficiency in Olympic lifting techniques, plyometrics, mobility training, and performance testing.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are essential for motivating student-athletes and fostering a growth-oriented environment.
Ability to adapt programming to meet individual athlete needs, particularly in response to injuries or feedback, is critical.
Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, athletic trainers, and administrators.
Ability to collaboratively and effectively work in a diverse and inclusive environment.
ENVIRONMENTAL, PHYSICAL, and VISUAL ACUITY FACTORS
Essential functions of this position require incumbents to work in both inside and outside environmental conditions. Incumbents could be exposed to extreme heat (high temperature and humidity) and extreme cold (temperatures below freezing). Additionally, incumbents will be subject to noise levels causing incumbents to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level.
Incumbents duties will require a medium level of work where they will exert up to 50lbs of force occasionally, 20lbs of force frequently, and/or 10lbs of force constantly to move objects. Essential functions require incumbents to: climb to ascend stairs, ladders, and/or hills; balance to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling; stoop by bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist; kneel; crouch; crawl; reach; stand; walking; push and pull; lift; use fingering and grasping; feel; talk to exchange ideas; hear at normal speaking levels; and make repetitive motions.
Visual acuity is required to allow incumbents to operate motor vehicles.
