The Assistant Director for Career Development and Transitional Programming will report to the Assistant AD for Development and Enrichment. This position will represent Intercollegiate Athletics on professional development and career programming and will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and supporting all professional and career programs. A high work ethic, a positive attitude, and a growth mindset are required to be successful in this role.

• Lead transition programming for all student-athletes including new student orientation and multi-year career programs.
• Plan and execute career events held for student-athletes such as: Networking Lions, etiquette dinners, and professional development workshops.
• Organize the development and maintenance of the Student-Athlete Achievement database.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Lead transition programming for all student-athletes including new student orientation and multi-year career programs.
• Plan and execute career events held for student-athletes such as: Networking Lions, etiquette dinners, and professional development workshops.
• Organize the development and maintenance of the Student-Athlete Achievement database.
• Oversee the development and delivery of career readiness resources, including resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, job search strategies, graduate/professional school applications, and networking.
• Meet with student-athletes regularly to provide career development assistance, including career exploration, resume and cover letter review, interview skills for jobs and graduate/professional school, and internship/employment search.
• Provide support for diverse student populations, including first-generation students, international students, and students from underrepresented backgrounds.
• Assist and collaborate with MAC counselors on academic awards and post-graduate scholarship opportunities.
• Collaborate with campus and community partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

• University/college student-athlete experience.
• Work experience in student-athlete development, academic advising and/or career development.
• Working knowledge of computers and student database systems.
• Prior working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in counseling, education, or related field.
• 3 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to understand and work with diverse communities and populations.
• Advanced oral and written communications skills.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
• Ability to foster and maintain working relationships with various athletic, University, and public constituencies.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$51,000.00 - $74,000.00
