| Job Description Summary |
Eastern Oregon University (EOU) is accepting applications for the Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing and Communications. This full-time, 12-month position is part of the Athletics Department.

The Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing and Communications oversees the department’s external operations, leading efforts in sports information, marketing, promotions, communications, fundraising, sponsorships, and equipment management. This role also manages all home athletic events and Mountaineer Athletic Association (MAA) events and operations.
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Director supports the department’s mission, goals, and objectives while assisting in the administration of EOU’s NAIA intercollegiate athletics division, which includes 15 varsity sports and recreation programs.

| Responsibilities |
Public Engagement & Representation
- Serve as a key speaker at various events, including MAA and alumni functions, Hall of Fame events, board meetings, and championship events.
- Maintain a professional presence at EOU Athletics events and alumni functions.
Strategic Planning & Fiscal Management
- Assist in long-term financial planning for operations, capital improvements, and staff expansion.
- Engage in strategic planning to enhance the department and evaluate MAA strategic goals.
Event & Game Day Operations
- Act as the lead administrator for all home contests, overseeing game-day operations and staffing.
- Ensure compliance with university cash handling policies for ticketing operations.
- Develop partnerships with external groups to enhance athletic events.
- Implement innovative event operations and fan engagement strategies.
- Coordinate event details with visiting teams, conference representatives, and officials.
Marketing & Communications
- Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communication strategy to promote EOU Athletics.
- Oversee branding initiatives and media relations.
- Coordinate promotions to enhance game-day experiences and increase attendance.
- Hire, train, and supervise marketing and communications interns.
Fundraising & External Relations
- Lead fundraising efforts, corporate partnerships, and revenue generation initiatives.
- Serve as the liaison between EOU Athletics, the EOU Foundation, and the Alumni Office.
- Plan and execute major fundraising events such as membership drives, golf tournaments, and alumni events.
- Ensure timely and accurate donor stewardship and gift acknowledgment.
Alumni & Community Engagement
- Foster relationships with EOU alumni and the community to increase support for athletics.
- Organize opportunities for student-athletes and coaches to engage with alumni and regional supporters.
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure adherence to University, Conference, and NAIA policies and regulations.
- Conduct annual evaluations and provide professional development opportunities for staff.
- Oversee budget planning and financial decision-making in alignment with EOU’s strategic goals.
- Direct and manage sports information, equipment operations, and MAA functions.
Athletics Equipment Oversight
- Provide leadership and support for the Athletics Equipment Coordinator.
- Assess equipment operations and recommend improvements.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Administration, Business, Communications or a closely related field.
- Three to five years of fundraising experience and/or marketing and sales of athletic programs. Experience and understanding of fundraising, community involvement, and public relations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills, a commitment to gender equity and diversity, and background in working with collegiate student-athletes, coaches, and athletic partners
- First Aid/CPR Certified or capable of becoming certified within 30 days of hire.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar for employment.
