We are currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Coach - Foil, Women’s and Men’s Fencing. As Stanford transitions to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), the assistant coach is responsible for running practices, giving lessons to students, traveling with the team to NCAA competitions, evaluating prospects for athletic recruitment, and supporting administrative tasks necessary to run a Division I athletic team. We seek a coach with a strong commitment to NCAA Division I-A athletics, proven coaching success, and a commitment to women’s athletics and holistic student-athlete development. This is a one year fixed-term position.

Your responsibilities include :

  • Strengthen and maintain a nationally competitive women's and men's Fencing program by helping to develop a competitive strategy to compete for Conference and NCAA Championships.
  • Recruit on a national level by identifying student-athletes that match Stanford’s unique academic and athletic requirements.
  • Work effectively with staff members in the areas of compliance, student development, external affairs, facilities/operations, equipment operations, athletic training, nutrition, and sports performance.
  • Conduct regular practices in and out of season. Instruct the team in a variety of techniques, warmups, and drills.
  • Provide one on one lessons to fencers.
  • Travel with the team to NCAA competitions for active and productive strip coaching.
  • Observe fencers during practices and bouts and provide constructive feedback on their performance.
  • Perform armory duties as needed.
  • Assist with limited administrative duties including, but not limited to, travel logistics and recruitment.
