Job Summary
The Assistant Football Coach reports to the Head Football Coach. The primary tasks are to assist the head coach in recruiting and serve as a position coach. This position is defined as a non-exempt position under
FLSA
regulations.
Specific Responsibilities
Identify and recruit quality student-athletes for the football program.
Develop and implement organized practices and game strategies for designated position(s)
Monitor and track academic progress of student-athletes on team.
Adhere to all
NCAA
and conference rules and bylaws.
Develop positive rapport with athletics staff, as well as SU community.
Represent the university to various constituents in a professional manner.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree with no experience OR three years of coaching/playing experience required.
Experience
Previous Football Coaching preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Deep understanding of and passion for the game of Football; Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build strong collaborative relationships. Requires ability to multi-task and attend to detail. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with current students and parents, prospective students and parents, and staff and faculty in a professional manner. Ability to use technology and equipment specific to the sport.
Physical Demand
Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction ability to frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly. Position requires lifting, pulling, pushing: Exert up to 50 pounds for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires travel. Must possess the physical stamina to effectively coach the sport. Work is indoors and outdoors.
