As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a Full-Time Assistant Football Coach - Defensive Coordinator Department of Athletics to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by being supervised by the head football coach but reports to the Athletic Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
Responsible for recruiting qualified student-athletes for college enrollment and participating in the football program.
Under supervision by the head football coach, he is responsible for conducting football practices in season and during spring football.
Serves as the Defensive Coordinator and Equipment Coordinator for the football program.
Responsible for any other aspect of the football program as determined by the head football coach.
Responsible for monitoring the academic performance of the student-athletes in his charge in the sport of football.
Develop defensive game plans for each opponent.
Create an implement defensive strategies and schemes.
Analyze film to identify opponent tendencies and weaknesses.

Evaluate personnel to determine individual matchups.
Conduct team meetings to ensure players understand game plan and assignments.
Coordinate with other coaches to develop overall team strategy.
Adjust strategy and play calling during game based on opponent performance.
Monitor player performance to identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments.
Communicate with players to provide feedback and make sure they understand their roles and assignments.
Collaborate with head coach and other coordinators to develop overall team strategy and game plan.
Recruiting territory as assigned by Head Coach & Recruiting Coordinator.
Administrative duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; coaching experience at high school or college level required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to members of the college, alumni and business community.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Must have or obtain and be able to maintain a valid Indiana Driver’s License with no restrictions.
Must have strong computer skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
