Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach will support the Head Coach in all aspects of the men’s basketball program at McMurry University. This includes assisting with recruitment, coaching, player development, and administrative responsibilities. The assistant coach is expected to uphold the mission of McMurry University and ensure compliance with all university, American Southwest Conference, and

policies and guidelines.
Major Responsibilities:
Assist in identifying and recruiting prospective student athletes who meet McMurry University’s academic and athletic standards.
Maintain communication with recruits and their families throughout the admissions process.
Assist in coordinating recruitment efforts with McMurry’s Office of Admissions.
Assist in planning and conducting effective practice sessions focused on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies.
Support the implementation of game plans and scouting reports.
Provide mentorship and leadership to student-athletes, promoting personal growth and well-being.
Ensure program compliance with all university, conference, and
NCAA
III
regulations.
Assist in coordinating team travel logistics, including scheduling, transportation, and accommodations.
Help maintain and manage equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
Communicate effectively within the Athletics Department and with the broader university community.
Support the Head Coach in overseeing team staff and volunteer personnel.
Assist in monitoring and evaluating team performance.
Represent McMurry University positively in the community and assist in developing relationships with alumni and supporters.
Participate in fundraising initiatives and community outreach programs.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach or Director of Athletics.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
One to two years of coaching experience at the college, high school, or club level.
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals within the university and community.
Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
Bachelor’s degree
Master’s degree in a related field.
Two or more years of college-level coaching experience.
Experience competing or coaching at the
NCAA
Division
III
level.
Knowledge of
NCAA
Division
III
recruiting regulations.
