Athletics Department
This position reports directly to the head coach and will participate in nearly all aspects of the men’s basketball program. The assistant coach will be responsible to teach student-athletes successful college level techniques, skills, and develop workouts that will challenge them to take their game to the next level within our team philosophy. Other aspects of the assistant coach will include being able to help guide and mentor student-athletes in the areas of academics, time management, consistent routines, positive social/relational development, and life skills. The assistant will have a primary role in the program’s operations, including but not limited to, all travel arrangements, food, apparel and equipment ordering, scouting reports/ film evaluations (Synergy and JustPlay), social media updating, recruiting, scheduling, and practice / game day operations. The assistant will also perform additional duties related to coaching (e.g., budget management, fund raising, community relations, etc.) as assigned by the head coach.
Candidates need to be able to demonstrate their ability to develop genuine healthy relationships with the players, colleagues, and the coaching community, along with understanding the importance of working with people from diverse backgrounds. Candidates need to be able to demonstrate the ability to teach relevant college-level basketball skills clearly and effectively. A successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of all the aspects of coaching student-athletes and above all be committed to the highest ideals of leadership.
