Position Summary:

The Assistant men’s Basketball Coach will be responsible for assisting the head coach in all facets of the men’s basketball program including teaching the fundamentals of the game; instructing, planning and directing practice and game strategies; advising student-athletes regarding academics; oversite of team travel; and recruiting quality student-athletes that excel both on the court and academically. You will be required to live on campus, to provide evening support in dorms and study hall of the student-athletes.

Primary Duties:

• Teach the fundamentals of the game;
• Instruct, plan, organize and implement all practice schedules and game strategies;
• Advise and monitor student-athletes academic progress.  

Secondary Duties:

• Track student athlete academic progress;
• Supervise study halls;
• Arrange travel schedules/meals;
• Set up practice times for road trips;
• Successfully recruit highly competitive student athletes;
• Other duties as assigned by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with experience coaching basketball.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Sports Management or Sports Administration with a familiarity and exposure to college basketball.

Knowledge and Skills:  

• A demonstrated knowledge of the day to day operations of an athletics department;
• A proven record in following directives and being responsible for tasks which have been assigned;
• Experience and competency in a leadership role within the classroom are preferred;
• Experience with computers and video editing a plus. 

Reports to:  Head Men’s Basketball Coach

Position:    Full-time, 12-Month, FLSA Exempt
