POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Men's Soccer Coach will support the Head Men's Soccer Coach in all aspects of the men's soccer program during the competitive season. This is a part-time temporary position, from August to November (4 months), designed for individuals looking to gain collegiate coaching experience while contributing to the development and success of the program. Responsibilities include assisting with training sessions, match preparation, student-athlete development, and ensuring compliance with institutional, conference, and NCAA regulations. The successful candidate will be expected to uphold the mission and values of Alma College while contributing positively to the development of student-athletes both on and off the field.

Supervision Received/Exercised:

This position reports to the head men's soccer coach and has no supervisory role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting team training sessions and match-day activities
  
• Provide technical, tactical, and positional coaching instruction to student-athletes
  
• Assist with game preparation, opponent scouting, and match analysis
  

• Support recruiting efforts through communication with prospective student-athletes, high school and club coaches, and attendance at recruiting events when appropriate

• Serve as a positive role model and promote sportsmanship, discipline, and team culture

• Maintain knowledge of and compliance with all NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations

• Represent the men's soccer program and the College in a professional manner at all times

  REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Collegiate playing experience and/or previous coaching experience

• Strong knowledge and understanding of the game of soccer

• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive student-athlete experience

• Ability to work evenings and weekends throughout the competitive fall season

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment

• A valid driver's license and good driving record

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to actively participate in training sessions and on-field coaching activities
  
• Ability to stand, walk, and demonstrate soccer techniques for extended periods
  

• Ability to travel with the team throughout the season

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working with goalkeepers

• Previous collegiate coaching experience

• Knowledge of NCAA Division III and MIAA regulations

• Experience working in a residential college environment

• Goalkeeping, strength and conditioning, video analysis, or recruiting expertise

• Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, Pell-eligible, and diverse populations
