DSU is seeking to hire an Assistant Rodeo Coach/Rodeo Arena Coordinator. The assistant rodeo coach is responsible for supporting a highly competitive rodeo program in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. This includes knowing and abiding by all DSU, ND University System and NIRA rules and regulations, coaching women’s and timed events, recruiting, monitoring student athletes’ academic progress and assist with team travel arrangements, club fundraising and practice and home rodeo implementation. Additionally, the position provides oversight and scheduling of the rodeo arena which would include supervision, scheduling, and oversight of the rodeo facility.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• Knowledge of college women’s and timed rodeo events.
• Knowledge of copying, digital scanning, and telephone systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• Knowledge of college women’s and timed rodeo events.
• Knowledge of copying, digital scanning, and telephone systems.
• Proficiencies in MS 365, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and function independently.
• Possess time management skills.
• Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a variety of situations. Flexibility and adaptability are essential.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:

• College rodeo experience
• Office experience
• Supervising experience
• Teaching experience
• Proficiency in using and managing databases

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assistant women’s rodeo coach
• Help organize and implement practice plans and instruction
• Provide athlete development in women’s and timed events
• Assist in travel arrangements (and travel when appropriate)
• Monitor student athletes' academic progress.
• Coordinate youth and high school camps, when appropriate. 
• Responsible for media relations.
• Recruit and retain quality student athletes and club members
• Future building/arenas scheduler/manager
• Begin developing a process for scheduling and managing the Ag Building, Multipurpose Indoor Arena and outdoor arenas for university, public and private use.
• Oversee the scheduling and use of the facility. Coordinate user groups in the facility.
• Schedule and coordinate future events in the facility with both Dickinson State and outside entities. 
• Other duties as assigned
• Complete other duties as assigned by the head rodeo coach and athletic director in coordination with the agricultural building or rodeo arena.

 

COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

• Salary of $40,000/annually
