Position Summary

Hamilton College has an immediate opening for the position of Assistant Sports Information Director. The Assistant Sports Information Director reports to the Director of Sports Information and is a member of the Athletics and Physical Education Department.

The Department of Physical Education, Athletics, Recreation, and Wellness at Hamilton College consists of over twenty faculty with a wide array of interests, skills, and expertise in the sports, lifetime activity and wellness areas. Athletically, Hamilton is a founding member of the prestigious, highly competitive NESCAC (New England Small College Athletic Conference). A wide selection of recreation and wellness opportunities are also provided by our department to the greater Hamilton community. More information can be found on the Hamilton website.

We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate their experience in working with broadly diverse student athlete populations, coaches and staff. Your cover letter should address the ways in which your work in athletics communications would further enhance the visibility, viewership, and engagement with Hamilton Athletics.

The Assistant Sports Information Director assists the Director with all aspects of the Sports Information Office, including website maintenance, publication design, writing press releases, posting updates to social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and X, updating and maintaining statistics and records, coverage at home events and certain events away from the College, completing NCAA and New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) reports, and other duties as assigned. The assistant may also be assigned varies administrative responsibilities periodically by the senior department administrators.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field and/or previous experience in an athletic communications or media relations department strongly preferred; strong writing and communication skills required. Candidates must be proficient in graphic design for social media platforms, editing and creating video highlights, SIDEARM web design, Presto LiveStats, NLS (Genius) and Photoshop. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
