The Assistant Sports Information Director (ASID) is responsible for the communications, publicity, statistical management, and digital presentation of approximately 14 of the college's 28 intercollegiate athletic programs. Working under the supervision of the Senior Sports Information Director, the Assistant Sports Information Director serves as the primary communications contact for assigned sports and provides accurate, timely, and engaging coverage of student-athletes, coaches, teams, and athletic events. In addition to traditional sports information responsibilities, this position has significant responsibility for athletics, social media, live streaming and digital production, and ticketing operations. The position plays an important role in increasing the visibility of the athletics department, enhancing the fan experience, and promoting the accomplishments of student-athletes and teams. The successful candidate will be a creative, organized, detail-oriented communications professional who can manage multiple deadlines and events in a fast-paced small-college athletics environment.

Essential Responsibilities 

Sports Information & Communications 

Serve as the primary Assistant Sports Information Director for approximately 14 of the college's 28 intercollegiate sports. 

Work under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director of Communications to ensure consistency in departmental communications and coverage. 

Develop and maintain accurate schedules, rosters, statistics, records, results, standings, and historical information for assigned sports. 

Prepare and distribute game previews, recaps, releases, feature stories, player spotlights, and other athletics communications. 

Maintain accurate and timely information on the athletics website for assigned sports.

Coordinate the collection, verification, and distribution of statistics and results. 

Maintain historical records and assist with the development of athletics record books and statistical archives. 

Serve as the primary media contact for assigned sports. 

Develop and maintain relationships with local, regional, conference, and other media outlets.

Coordinate media requests, interviews, credentials, and other media-related activities.

Promote student-athlete and team accomplishments through traditional and digital communications. 

Assist with conference and NCAA statistical and reporting requirements. 

Coordinate nominations and submissions for conference, regional, and national awards and honors. 

Assist with postseason and championship communications as assigned. 

Ensure all published information is accurate, professional, timely, and consistent with institutional standards. 

Game-Day Statistics & Operations 

Serve as the primary athletics communications contact for assigned home contests. 

Coordinate game-day statistical operations, including staffing, equipment, software, and reporting. 

Operate or oversee statistical software and systems used for assigned sports. 

Coordinate with coaches, officials, visiting teams, conference personnel, and game-day staff to ensure accurate information and statistics. 

Distribute results and statistics to appropriate conference, media, institutional, and NCAA outlets. 

Assist with game-day programs, rosters, announcements, and other promotional materials. 

Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise student 

Ticketing

 Work with the Assistant Athletic Director for Logistics with ticket operations with the athletic department ticketing vendor. 

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited instittution. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational skills and ability to work independently within the structure of a team. Must be able to exercise good judgment and to maintain a high level of confidentiality, to relate easily to a wide variety of individuals, and to effectively balance and execute multiple priorities. Prior experience with college athletics preferred.
