Job Description

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

The Assistant Sports Information Officer is responsible for executing and managing the sports information, statistical, and traditional communications functions of DBU Athletics. Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director for Athletics Communications, this position provides functional management in sports information while working directly in game coverage, content production, and broadcasting. The role emphasizes accuracy, reliability, and consistent execution in support of DBU Athletics’ competitive and communications objectives.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Execute and manage sports information operations under the direction of the Associate AD for Athletics Communications.
• Manage day-to-day sports information functions for assigned sports.
• Directly manage graduate assistants assigned to sports information operations.
• Manage official statistics, records, historical data, and required reporting for assigned sports.
• Prepare, manage, and distribute game previews and series previews.
• Write, edit, and publish game recaps, stories, and feature content.
• Serve as a broadcaster for specified sports, including play-by-play and/or color commentary.
• Support the Patriot Broadcasting Network through on-air participation and statistical coordination.
• Manage and maintain accurate, current content on the DBU Patriots website and mobile app.
• Serve as the secondary point of contact for external media inquiries, supporting the Associate AD as primary contact.
• Coordinate required communications and reporting with conference offices and governing bodies.
• Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism across all written, statistical, digital, and broadcast materials.
• Execute department-wide communications initiatives as assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE :

This is a full-time position with regular office hours between 8:00 a.m. ‒ 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.

WORK LOCATION: 

This position will work on the main campus, located at 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211

Requirements

• Must be a Christian who is a member of a church that holds Jesus Christ to be their Savior and Lord, and who holds solely the Old Testament and the New Testament as sacred Scriptures.
