Job Description:

Amherst College invites applications for the position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will report to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in all phases of the Amherst College Strength and Conditioning Program including designing, developing, and supervising Strength and Conditioning programs for various club and varsity programs as well as other duties assigned by the Head Coach and Director of Athletics.  Requires a variable schedule; early morning and into the evening work shifts will be required. 

This is a 10-month/year, non-benefitted position.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Coaching

  • Design and implement Strength and Conditioning Programs as primary Strength and Conditioning Coach for Women’s Basketball, Cross Country, Swimming and Diving, Men’s Soccer, Squash, Women’s Rowing (club)

  • Assist Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with supervising and implementing Strength and Conditioning Programs for Men’s Basketball, Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey, Men’s and Women’s Golf, Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse, Women’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Tennis

  • Work with Head Sport Coaches and Student Athletes to ensure the specific Strength and Conditioning needs of each sport are met under the guiding principles of accepted scientifically based information

  • Work with Sports Medicine Staff to modify Strength and Conditioning programs around injury and/or integrate back into a routine after rehabilitation is completed
