Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Assistant to the Athletics Director will be involved in all facets of the administration of Farmingdale State College's 18-sport, NCAA Division III athletics department. This position is supported by the National Collegiate Athletic Association's "Pathway to Excellence Grant", which provides funding for two years. In alignment with the mission of the grant, women and individuals from underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience across multiple areas of athletic administration, as well as access to professional development and networking opportunities across the grant.
Responsibilities:
Event management and operations
Assist with the planning, setup, execution and breakdown of home athletic contests and special events hosted by Farmingdale State College sports (e.g., conference and/or NCAA Championship events; Hall of Fame/special events).
NCAA compliance
Assist the Senior Associate Athletics Director in ensuring a culture of compliance. Responsibilities include assisting with preseason NCAA meetings, rules education sessions, and both the initial and continuing eligibility processes at FSC.
Life skills and Student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC)
Assist SAAC and life skills liaisons in further extending the Department's commitment to community service/engagement, as well as providing relevant, and timely programming to our student-athletes on topics that relate both to current industry trends (both in the NCAA and our students' majors), but also for skills that can be utilized by all our student-athletes upon graduation from our institution.
Finance and budgeting
Collaborate with the department's travel coordinator, Assistant AD and Director of Athletics - in addition to cross-campus finance department personnel - for the various functions that go into a state institution athletic department's financial policies, procedures and budget planning/forecasting.
Communications and Social Media
Assist the Director of Athletic Communications and Sports Information Director in publicity and promotional functionality of our department, including website maintenance and conceptualize and develop social media content for the department's platforms.
