POSITION SUMMARY:
Alma College is a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and the NCAA Division Ill. The position will assist with all daily aspects of the sport and will participate as an active member of the Athletics Department.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED:
This position reports to the Head Track and Field Coach and has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – may include, but not limited to the following:
• Coaching and training Alma College student-athletes, developing and conducting all in-season and out of season workout schedules.
• Commit to and is responsible for adhering to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, College, the MIAA, and the NCAA with the utmost integrity.
• Work closely with fellow coaches to develop recruiting strategies and a pool of admissible prospects.
• Maintain good relations with parents of prospective and current student-athletes.

• Responsible for helping with the administration and set up of track and field events that may occur using the campus facilities.
• Help with retention of current student athletes, monitoring grades and academic progress.
• Develop student athletes to be contributing members to the campus community and the community at large.
• Cooperate with athletic training staff, maintenance staff, transportation staff and others who are involved in supporting the athletic program.
• Work cooperatively with personnel in athletic department and always represents the college positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school, and club coaches, media and general public.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelors’ degree in a related field
• Experience coaching track and field
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships
• Ability to analyze data and clearly communicate findings to internal and external audiences
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Good organizational and analytical skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, Pell-eligible, and diverse populations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be physically able to lead practices program
• Position requires working weekday evenings and weekends as well as some travel
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk or sit for long periods of times.
