DESCRIPTION

Otterbein University is in search of an Assistant Track & Field Coach/Meet Manager who will assist the Director of Cross Country/Track and Field by performing the following duties: Recruiting of student athletes, design and implementation of track and field programming, and organize and run home cross country and track meets. This is a full-time, 40 hours a week, 12 months a year position.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Organize and implement training for the track and field programs.
  • Assists the Director of Cross Country/Track and Field in conducting a successful intercollegiate track and field program, ensuring that the program provides positive athletics experience while promoting sportsmanship for its participants, enhances campus life and operates within University, NCAA and OAC conference regulations.
  • Assists the Director of Cross Country/Track and Field with the daily competitive operation of the track & field program including but not limited to: teaching sport related skills and strategies, conducting film study, observing student-athletes during practice, and preparing practice plans.
  • Assist the recruiting coordinator and successfully recruit student athletes to the XC/TF teams - including organizing and arranging visits of prospective student athletes, administering visits, recruiting at events, and other similar activities.
  • Plan and run all home cross country/track and field events including but not limited to: schedules, management of the meet itself on meet day, arranging officials, entries, timing, etc.
  • Monitor the academic success of the track student-athletes including conducting grade checks.
  • Assist with the supervision and coordination of strength and conditioning programs as directed by the head coach.
  • Participates in the planning and monitoring of such activities, including equipment and facility supervision.
  • Responsible for working with the athletic trainers and team physicians for the medical well-being and protection of the student-athlete during preseason, regular season and post season activities; each athlete must receive a medical evaluation prior to participation; athletic training hours will be posted for preventative care and rehabilitation; emergency procedures must be reviewed, established and followed for practice and competition.
