Job Description:

General Summary: Participates in organization and execution of Women's Basketball practices, scouting reports, and individual workouts. . Supports student athlete welfare and good academic standing of team members. Demonstrates skills in organization, calendar planning and developing travel itineraries. Provides a positive Christian coach role model.

Job duties include:

• Conforms to and is knowledgeable of all NCAA regulations and conference requirements and exhibits proficiency through a passing score on the NCAA coaches examination.
• Participates in organization and execution of team practices and individual workouts.
• Develops scouting reports on opponents and breaks down film from our own team.
• Recruits student-athletes.
• Provides for spiritual/social development of student athletes

 

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree.
• The knowledge and technical skills necessary to accomplish the assigned task.
• A maturing and contagious Christian faith, knowledge of and the willingness to actively support the Christian mission of the University and accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian Community.
• The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, athletes, students, faculty, administration and the community. 

 

Additional Information:

Position will remain open until filled.

This category of employment recognizes the unique demands and unusual schedule of coaching an intercollegiate sport. Employees in this category will work an irregular, seasonal schedule with understanding and agreement that during the applicable sports season and certain off-season training periods and/or high-demand recruiting periods the demands may well exceed 40-hour workweeks. It is also understood and agreed that during less demanding periods the employee may fulfill the position's responsibilities by working less than 40 hours per week. It is also understood and agreed that there will be designated two months during which the employee will be available with reasonable notice for meetings and/or electronic consultation but will otherwise not be scheduled for regular work activities. During this two-month period, employees in this category will be permitted to accept additional compensated employment either from SPU or outside entities.

Salary: $36,000 - $38,000 annually

This position comes with an offer of benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes contributions to an employee HSA account and a 7% contribution to a retirement account, for eligible employees, with immediate vesting in the plan. Tuition discount program (50% - 90%) available for the employee and qualified immediate family members.
