Kenyon College invites applications for the position of Women’s Assistant Basketball Coach. This is a full-time, 10-month reporting position with benefits. Under the general direction of the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, this coach will assist with the responsibilities of the NCAA D-III Women’s Basketball program in accordance and compliance with NCAA, NCAC, and Kenyon College policies and regulations. The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach will work in conjunction with the head coach to fulfill the following responsibilities: coaching, providing
leadership for student-athletes, scouting, recruiting, instructing, strength training & conditioning, arranging travel,tracking equipment, and developing alumni contacts. Additional responsibilities will be assigned in game management, facility overview, teaching, and / or administration. It is also expected that the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach embrace the department mission of fostering learning and developing community with a focus on the values of citizenship, competition, resiliency, sportsmanship, and teamwork within Kenyon’s unique campus culture. Essential Functions:

  • Provide assistance to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach.
  • Teach and instruct student-athletes in the fundamentals of basketball, specifically but not exclusively working with post players.
  • Conduct film analysis and construct scouting reports for all opponents.
  • Develop and implement a strength training/agility program with the assistance of the strength and conditioning coach, both in and out of season.
  • Organize and manage team travel needs. Schedule hotels, meals, and transportation.
  • Recruit academically and athletically strong applicants for admission in the selective, highly competitive application pool at Kenyon College utilizing ARMS software, including preparing promotional materials
  • Maintain an excellent record-keeping for all purchases and expenses for the program.
  • Inventory and safety check all uniforms and basketball-specific equipment.
  • Work in conjunction with athletic trainers to maintain student-athlete welfare
  • Stay up-to-date with sport and coaching best practices to provide opportunities for all involved in the program to become students of the game by sharing knowledge of the sport Participate in the NCAC governance for Women’s Basketball at coaches' meetings.
  • All coaches are assigned additional duties in the areas of facility and event /game management and teaching. These responsibilities are determined annually by Coordinator of Lifetime Fitness, Game/Event Manager, Facility Manager(s) and Director of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation
