Job Description

Position Summary:
The Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach is responsible for supporting all aspects of the Harris-Stowe State University Women’s Soccer program. This includes assisting with team development, planning and leading practices, recruiting qualified student-athletes, providing instruction on techniques for optimal performance, and ensuring compliance with NAIA eligibility standards. The Assistant Coach plays an integral role in building a competitive, student-centered program that aligns with the mission and values of the University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Instruct student-athletes in the rules, fundamentals, and strategies of collegiate-level soccer.

  • Assist in developing and executing effective practice plans and game strategies.

  • Support the recruitment and retention of student-athletes who demonstrate the potential to be successful both academically and athletically.

  • Coordinate team travel, including driving University/rental vehicles to away competitions.

  • Promote a positive team culture and provide guidance, mentorship, and supervision to student-athletes.

  • Manage assigned areas of the team’s operational budget and support fundraising efforts.

  • Recommend and implement improvements for the continued growth of the program.

  • Foster strong relationships across campus to ensure the program is integrated into the broader University community.

  • Uphold and promote the philosophy and values of the HSSU Athletics Department and the University.

  • Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with NAIA and institutional eligibility requirements.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or other designated administrator.
