Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Engagement for Athletics, under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President for Development and Alumni Engagement, will be an integral part of the Development and Alumni Engagement team for Eastern Kentucky University. This position will travel extensively, both within Kentucky and beyond, to advance a culture of philanthropy at EKU. The Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Engagement for Athletics will serve an important role by bringing University Athletics to alumni and friends throughout the US. They will help discover, cultivate, solicit and steward major and planned gift prospects. The incumbent will also focus on increasing gifts and identifying and soliciting planned gifts. Metrics will be determined based on previous experience; however, emphasis will be placed on securing visits and soliciting gifts. As the first year will involve training and acclimating to the University, goals in year one may be lower than subsequent years. The incumbent will work under the close oversight and direction of the Assistant Vice President for Development and Alumni Engagement to grow the incumbent's knowledge and experience. This position will be expected to attend many athletic events and be involved with other fundraising efforts for athletic teams. They will work closely with Colonels Club and Worn Cleat Society. Emphasis will be placed on solicitating major and planned gifts with expectation to serve as a development representative within athletics. This position will require significant travel (30% or more) and some evenings and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree is required, Master's preferred. Athletics experience and knowledge strongly preferred.

Experience: - Three years of work experience in sales and/or non-profit fund development is required.

• Experience with major gifts is preferred.

Licensure & Certifications: A valid driver's license is required.

Job Duties:

• 85% - Provide effective fundraising strategy and oversight for alumni and friends, resulting in increased philanthropic support for EKU athletics. - (Essential)
• 10% - Serve as connector between the Office of Development & Alumni Engagement and EKU athletics. - (Essential)
• 5% - Assist with tasks as may be necessary from time to time to promote and secure financial support for the University, its programs and initiatives. Attend meetings, events, and trainings as assigned. Comply with all laws, regulations, University policies and procedures. Complete all other duties, assignments, and projects as assigned. - (Essential)
