Job Summary:
The Associate Athletic Director for Development and Fundraising will be responsible for driving
fundraising efforts, managing athletic facilities, leading special projects, and mentoring young coaches.

Key Responsibilities
Fundraising and Development:
Develop and implement fundraising strategies to increase financial support for Union
Commonwealth University’s NAIA athletic programs, ensuring alignment with institutional
goals.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, alumni, sponsors, and local businesses to secure
financial support for athletics programs and student-athletes.
Contributes to the campus community that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and
development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Organize and coordinate fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives such as donor drives,
charity events, and athletics booster clubs.
Partner with the Vice President and development team to set fundraising priorities and ensure
transparent and effective tracking of donations.
Assist with major gift solicitations, donor stewardship, and recognition efforts to foster a culture
of giving.
Develop and distribute communications such as newsletters, fundraising appeals, and stewardship
reports to keep stakeholders informed and engaged.
Track and report on fundraising progress, ensuring timely acknowledgment and recognition of
donations while managing donor relationships effectively.
Meet with coaching staffs and implement fundraising strategies for individual teams inside the
athletic department.
Budget and Financial Management:
Assist in the development and management of the athletics department's annual operating budget,
ensuring financial resources are allocated effectively.
Monitor, track, and report on expenditures across the athletics program, ensuring compliance with
budgetary goals.

Prepare financial reports for department leadership and provide insights into cost-saving
opportunities and areas for improvement.
Support the Vice President in developing long-term financial strategies to support program
growth and sustainability.
Ensure compliance with all financial policies and procedures, as well as NAIA regulations,
related to budgeting and financial management.
Facility and Operations Management:
Oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and scheduling of athletic facilities, ensuring they are
safe, clean, and ready for use by teams, coaches, and student-athletes.
Work with facility management and maintenance teams to ensure the quality of athletic venues
meets the standards required for competition and practice.
Assist in planning for any facility upgrades, renovations, or capital projects as part of the long-
term vision for athletics.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards in all athletic facilities.
Assist VP with development and implementation of a central summer camp schedule.
Coordinate within athletic department assistance for setting up travel with hotels, restaurants and
transportation companies.
Project Management:
Lead and manage special projects for the athletics department, including capital improvement
projects, new program development, and strategic initiatives.
Develop project plans with timelines, budgets, ensuring that all projects are completed on time
and within budget.
Collaborate with various university departments, including facilities, athletics, and
administration, to ensure project goals are met.
Monitor project progress, troubleshoot any issues or delays, and provide regular updates to senior
leadership.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, safety standards, and university policies during
the execution of projects.
Mentorship of Young Coaches:
Mentor young or developing coaches, providing guidance on coaching strategies, player
development, and effective leadership techniques.

Develop and implement coaching development programs to enhance the skills and careers of
young coaches within the department.
Foster a positive, supportive coaching culture, promoting collaboration, personal growth, and
player-centered coaching practices.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, or related field.
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in athletics administration, fundraising, budget
management, or facilities management, preferably in a collegiate or NAIA setting.
Proven success in fundraising and developing donor relationships.
Strong knowledge of budget management, financial reporting, and budget forecasting.
Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities.
Familiarity with managing athletic facilities and coordinating game-day operations.
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to work well with students, staff, alumni, and
external partners.
Ability to work evenings and weekends based on athletic schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of NAIA, ACA, and MSC rules and regulations, especially regarding budgeting,
compliance, and game management.
Experience using fundraising software.
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s Degree
Minimum three years of experience in athletic administration
Valid driver’s license.

Typical Working Conditions and Unique Physical Requirements:
Work is typically performed in an interior office
Work is required frequently during weekend and evening work and requires overnight and out-of-
town travel.
