James Madison University, a Division I Member of the NCAA and Sun Belt conference, is seeking an Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning. This position is a full-time, 12-month position with a full comprehensive benefits package. The anticipated start date is upon first availability. | | Duties and Responsibilities |
Include but not limited to:

• Design strength and conditioning programs, guiding student-athletes through a regimen of exercises to optimize performance and decrease injury potential.
• Teach proper weight lifting, speed, agility, energy system development, flexibility, and mobility techniques.
• Collaborate with head coaches in the designing and implementation of year-round training programs for assigned teams.
• Work in cooperation with the Integrated Health & Sports Performance staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured student-athletes.
• Manage athletic team schedules and hands-on supervising workouts of student-athletes.
• Develop the student-athletes holistically including physical, psychologically and emotional support.
• Continue to learn, improve, and educate on the most up to date scientific principles of sports performance.
• Perform assigned work in a timely manner and meet or exceed all deadlines.
• Assist Director in the management of the weight room and associated training areas.
• Promote an environment that is compliant with NCAA, Sun Belt, and JMU legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Supervise and mentor student assistants (practicum, internship and volunteer students).
• Maintain a positive attitude, growth mindset, demonstrated enthusiasm, and positive energy.

• Be a team player in all your communication and interactions with the Strength & Conditioning staff, Integrated Health and Sports Performance Staff, and Athletics Department. | | Qualifications |
  Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Physiology, Sports Science or a related field.

• NCSA/CSCS certification and or CCSCa/SCCC certification

• CPR/AED certification

• 2-3 years of experience training student-athletes at the collegiate level

• Proven experience with the listed job duties at the collegiate level.

Preferred:

• Master’s Degree in relevant field.
• 3-5 years of NCAA experience.
• Experience with software/hardware used in data collection and monitoring. | | Conditions of Employment |

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
