The Associate Head Men's Rugby Coach assists the Director of Rugby in all aspects of the men's rugby program at American International College. This position is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and oversight of a competitive NCR Division 1 rugby program that emphasizes athletic excellence, student-athlete development, and adherence to institutional and conference policies.

Coaching and Athletic Development
Assist the Director of Rugby in planning and implementing daily practices, training sessions, and game strategies
Provide technical and tactical instruction to student-athletes in accordance with program philosophy and goals
Support the development of individual player skills and team cohesion
Assist in game preparation, including opponent analysis, game planning, and in-game coaching
Collaborate with strength and conditioning staff to design and monitor athlete performance programs

Recruitment
Assist in identifying, evaluating, and recruiting prospective student-athletes who meet academic and athletic standards
Develop and maintain relationships with high school and club rugby coaches, administrators, and recruiting services
Coordinate campus visits, conduct player evaluations, and communicate with prospective student-athletes and families
Maintain accurate recruiting records and ensure compliance with all institutional and NCR recruiting regulations
Student-Athlete Development
Monitor academic progress of student-athletes and promote academic success
Foster personal growth, leadership skills, and character development among team members
Serve as a mentor and positive role model to student-athletes
Support student-athlete wellness initiatives in coordination with athletic training and sports medicine staff
Program Administration
Assist with budget planning and management of program resources
Coordinate team travel arrangements, including transportation, lodging, and meals
Maintain and manage equipment inventory and ensure proper care of program assets
Assist with scheduling of practices, competitions, and team activities
Support fundraising and alumni relations efforts as directed
Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the broader athletic department community
Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure full compliance with all NCR, institutional, and conference rules and regulations
Maintain current certifications in first aid, CPR, and other required safety training
Promote a safe training and competition environment for all participants
Report any violations, injuries, or concerns through appropriate channels
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Demonstrated knowledge of rugby techniques, tactics, and strategies
Previous coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level
Strong organizational and communication skills
Commitment to academic integrity and student-athlete welfare
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by practice and competition schedules
Valid driver's license and ability to travel with the team
Preferred
Master's degree
Experience coaching at the NCR Division 1 level or equivalent
Collegiate playing experience
USA Rugby coaching certifications
Recruiting experience and established network within the rugby community
Experience with video analysis software and performance tracking systems
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to stand, walk, and move actively for extended periods during practices and competitions
Ability to demonstrate rugby techniques and movements
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
Exposure to loud noise levels during competitions and team activities
Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
