Job Description:

Amherst College invites applications for theAthletic Department Assistant position. This is a part-time, casual, non-benefited position, starting at $20/hour; given Amherst’s distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ways in which they bring value to and will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community.

The Athletic Department Assistant provides administrative support for the financial and business operations of the athletic department. This position will be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, including coordinating travel for athletic teams, processing invoices and expenses, and performing other general clerical tasks in support of the department. In addition, this position provides administrative and event support for postseason NESCAC and NCAA events.

The Athletic Department Assistant position calls for an enthusiastic, flexible individual who can assist the department with administrative tasks and work collaboratively with diverse colleagues. The Athletic Department Assistant takes appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College’s efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school degree or equivalent

  • One year of related experience

  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, time-management, organizational, and customer service skills

  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and work collaboratively

  • Knowledge of sporting activities and business acumen
