Position Description
| Position Summary |
Responsible for budgeting spray applications to fit the needs of the University as well as prepping and applying those applications to the athletic fields and surrounding areas. Coordinating and aerifyying all areas of campus including the athletic fields. Placement of equipment to support athletic events, college or off-campus related, to include soccer goals, hurdles, bleachers, pole vault mats, etc.

| Skills, Characteristics Required for Position |
• Excellent knowledge of sports turf management and sports turf preparation. This includes slicing, pulling cores, punching holes with solid tines, and adjusting depth when seeding into core holes
• Ability to work with limited supervision, self motivated and team-player, with good interpersonal skills.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Support Sports Turf Crew Leader, filling in if necessary.
• Ability to operate standard grounds equipment, tractor, mower, front mount mower, line painter, weed whip etc.
• Knowledge of irrigation system, small repairs and set up.
• Basic knowledge of construction of fences, concrete macadam work, and storm drain installation preferred.
• Basic computer skills including the use of campus e-mail system and software programs used to perform job.

| Special Working Conditions |
Must be able to endure outdoor exposure to extreme temperatures, physically demanding job functions including walking, standing, pulling, lifting, and stooping. Must be able to lift an average of 75 lbs. This position is essential; employees providing essential services must report to work as scheduled by their supervisor in the event of an emergency closing or delay. In the event of a snowstorm, this position may be responsible for off-hours snow removal.

| Driving Requirements |
This position requires the operation of a Messiah College owned or leased vehicle and the employee must possess and maintain a current driver’s license, meet the established criteria, and abide by all policies and procedures as presented in the College’s Fleet Vehicle Use Policy.

| Primary Duties |
1. Maintenance and preparation of all athletic fields courts and tracks. Including mowing and lining of fields and skinned areas.
2. Assist in the off-season turf management program including mowing, aeration, slit seeding, top dressing and irrigation.
3. Prepare for track and field events and campus utilized by off-campus summer clientele.
4. Placement of all sports equipment for outdoor sports from storage to use location including soccer goals, baseball and softball bases, polevault mats, hurdles and bleachers.
5. Police grounds for trash and debris.
6. Support Grounds Mechanic throughout winter months assisting with metal fabrication projects, grounds equipment repairs, landscape projects etc.
7. Ability to operate standard grounds equipment; tractor, mower, front mount mower, line painter, weed whip etc.
8. Additional duties to be assigned by Supervisor to support the Grounds department to include but not limited to tree removal, mowing, weed whipping, backhoe operation etc
9. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.

3. Assist in Central Receiving.
