Position Description
| Position Summary |
This position works as a member of the Athletic Training staff to provide healthcare for athletes competing in 22 intercollegiate sports at Messiah College. Primary duties include prevention, clinical evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of injuries and illness for Messiah College intercollegiate athletes. Additional duties include organization and administration of the Athletic Training Facility.

Bachelor’s degree required with current BOC Certification; Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Licensed Athletic Trainer or eligible

Master’s degree in a related field preferred

| Primary Duties |
1. Prevent athletic injuries and illness
2. Provide clinical evaluation and documentation of athletic injuries and illness via Electronic Medical Records system
3. Provide quality treatment of athletic injuries
4. Develop rehabilitation programs for injured student athletes with proper progression to return to competition
5. Render quality patient care regardless of the patient’s age, gender, nationality, race, or religion
6. Administrative duties related to the operation of the Athletic Training Facility as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer
7. Work collaboratively with physicians and other allied health professionals to deliver care to student athletes
8. Work collaboratively with athletic coaches to assure the health, safety and welfare of student athletes
9. Provide healthcare at home contests and practices within the sport’s traditional season of competition
10. Participate in continual professional development and maintain certification
11. Provide assessment of student athletic training services
12. Ensure completion of pre-participation paperwork and exams by student-athletes
13. Serve on appropriate departmental and campus committees and be a presence in college activities and governance, including attendance at common Community of Educators (COE) meetings.
14. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance
