The University of New England (UNE) is seeking an Athletic Trainer to join our Athletics department to support the welfare and athletic experience of our varsity student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing direct care, developing and implementing injury prevention strategies, coordinating with medical professionals, and handling key administrative duties to ensure the health and safety. This role is essential in fostering a safe, supportive, and high-performance environment, enhancing the student-athlete experience.
This is a 10-month, salaried exempt position with year-round benefits. The typical contract period runs from August through May, with two months off-contract during the summer (May–July), subject to variation based on sport coverage needs.

Provide athletic training services to student-athletes:
Establish and maintain a system that ensures student-athletes receive independent medical care, while also upholding that team physicians and athletic trainers retain final authority on return-to-play decisions.
Stay current with advancements in athletic training practices, research, and technology.
Travel with athletic teams as deemed appropriate by the Head Athletic Trainer.
Complete administrative duties, including timely documentation, and review and approval of student-athlete medical records (e.g., physical exams, health history questionnaires, etc.).
Maintain and operate athletic training room facilities and equipment.
Supervise student workers as needed.
If applicable, serve as a preceptor to train, supervise, and evaluate athletic training students.
Perform other duties as assigned.
