The Athletics Communications Intern is a part-time, one-year term, casual position, without benefits, starting at $16.25/hour. Amherst College Athletic Communications invites applications for an internship position for the 2024-2025 academic year. Supervised by the Director of Athletic Communications, this position will average approximately 20 hours per week assisting in the coverage of our 27 varsity athletic programs.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Serve as a primary media contact for selected sports
Maintain in-game and cumulative statistics
Oversee student worker athletic communications staff on game-days
Write press releases, including game recaps, award announcements, and student profiles for amherst.athletics.edu
Assist with the management of the department’s social media platforms and in the creation of photo and video content
Other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications:
Required
Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to work independently
Excellent writing and editing abilities
Familiarity with Adobe Suite and statistical programs preferred
Working knowledge of intercollegiate athletics and their specific playing rules, NCAA regulations and statistics
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work nights and weekends
The Amherst College Athletic Communications Office uses Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Lightroom, Premiere Pro) as our primary editing software and PrestoStats and NCAA Genius LiveStats as our primary stat software.
Successful completion of required reference and background checks
