Overview: This position will teach, coach, and recruit student-athletes for Kansas Wesleyan
University's women's basketball team. This position also includes managing the developmental
team and supporting the overall success of the program.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coaching (50%): Coach student-athletes during practice and competitions, use video
analysis for training, and plan team strategies.
• Recruiting (30%): Identify and recruit potential players (especially within a 100-mile radius),
track recruitment activities, and ensure compliance with university and NAIA policies.
• Administration (15%): Ensure academic success and eligibility of athletes, manage team
budget and inventory, supervise staff, coordinate travel, and comply with university and
NAIA policies.
• Other Duties (5%): Complete required reports, assist with other tasks assigned by the
Athletics Director, lead team service projects, participate in campus events.
Supervision: Report to the Athletic Director. Supervises one assistant coach and up to two
graduate assistants.
Work Schedule/Conditions: Full-time, with flexible hours for practices, games, and recruiting.
Significant travel required for games and recruitment.
Performance Expectations:
• Ensure a minimum roster size (40-50) and achieve athletic success by maintaining a
competitive standing in the KCAC.
• Foster a positive student-athlete experience, including high academic standards and
retention rates.
• Contribute positively to the university’s overall mission and engage with the campus and
local community.
Required Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.
• Certifications: First Aid/CPR certification (active within 60 days of employment), NAIA
Champions of Character course, and Blood Borne Pathogen training (both completed within
60 days of employment).
• Experience: 5+ years of coaching experience, college recruiting experience, and
coordinator experience required. Head coaching experience in basketball, experience with
NAIA programs, and 6-8 years of college coaching experience preferred.
• Skills: Strong teamwork, organization, and alignment with the university's mission.

This is a full-time, exempt position with travel and physical demands involved in coaching
basketball. This role requires leadership, strong organizational skills, and commitment to student-
athlete development both on and off the court.
